Motion in a Still Image

January 16, 2010

My first video project involved giving a voice to photographs.  Although I did not take the photographs (actually the images are paintings), I still learned to find a story within a single frame.

Using Edward Hopper‘s paining “Morning in the City,” I created my own story regarding the woman in the painting.  I gave her thoughts, fears, a significant other, a future, a past, and an audience.

Below is my original story

Magnum in Motion showcases impressive and respectable videos that accomplish the goal of giving life to photographs.

I enjoyed one by Bruce Gilden titled “Coney Island.”

Personally, I like this one because two days before leaving for college I spent the day at Coney Island with my parents, giving the place more sentimental value. Although the sentiment may vary, I hope you like the video too.
