Have It Your Way

January 26, 2010

The only guideline for our final project was use video. With that said, the assignment was pretty open and countless ideas came to mind. Some people were talking about music videos. commercials, and more elaborate time lapses and stop motion pieces.

After thinking it over I remembered Zack’s Hot Dogs in downtown Burlington, a restaurant that has been there since 1928.  I figured anything that has lived over 80 years must have some story to tell, and it is just my job to find that story. I was unsure of what interviews with the owner, employees, and customers would reveal, but I found a truth that presently resonates with most people. What I expected to evolve into a documentary turned out to be more of a news piece. Even the old favorite took a hit during the economic downturn, but Zack’s history has built a loyal following that keeps the business going.

Watch the video below and visit Zack’s Hot Dogs on the corner of Davis and Worth in Burlington, NC.
